Have been replaying this grim scenario all year and now it’s here. One hopeful thought is that easily half the country is already very anti Trump. I’m not so sure how easily they’ll lay down. All the people loosing government jobs will also add to the resistance. But make no doubt this is very frightening. I’m sick over it.

One critical difference is that Hitler came to power in a nation that really did have an economy in tatters. Trump has entered the White House (instead of a Big House) with historically low unemployment, inflation (incited by a pandemic and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine) among the lowest of all developed countries and coming under control, and a successful industrial policy which is stimulating the construction of many high tech facilities with good jobs. But the FANTASY of an economy in tatters was sold to many millions by right wing media such as Fox “”News” and Sinclair stations. People (narrow-mindedly) vote their pocketbook, and in this case did so ignorantly.
